In her sermon, leading us to the inward journey we need to take to become children of God’s kingdom, Ruth leads us through the learning of the people of Israel after they left Egypt in their 40 year journey to the promised land.
How they were taught to leave behind the mindset of slavery, learning to be a free people, listening to the voice of God and taking responsibility for their own actions, learning to lift up their eyes and see beyond the the demands of the day and look to the heavens for the blessings of God.
She then helps us to see how Jesus expanded on the commandments given to the people of Israel, to help his hearers discover the kingdom of God within themselves and how we too, in contemplative prayer and by the Holy Spirit , recognizing and acknowledging our own flawed nature clearly , can know the presence and love of God within ourselves and so become people of the kingdom of God.
